The Apple iPad is good news for Software Development
Monday May 31st 2010, 6:41 pm
The iPad has only been around since April 2010 and its sales are rocketing, this is remarkable news for the software technology giant Apple, it is believed that 2,000,000 have been sold in two months.
Are Apple making heavy use of Software Outsourcing as this generally helps towards keeping cost down allowing you to keep your core capabilities in-house resulting in innovation and creativity.
There is heavy indication of the Software Development Technologies used are having a great impact on this including a streamlined development cycle preferably using a Lean Management Lean Consulting approach.
Steve Jobs the CEO of Apple said “Apple is working hard to build enough iPads for everyone”.
For a company to have a market value of over $230 Billion is remarkable this definitely puts it at the top of the game it is possible they are using a heavy shared services approach, well only Apple know.

TATA and Nokia weakens resulting in Software Development Weakening
Friday May 28th 2010, 3:07 pm
Is this another sign of weak Lean Management and Lean Consulting fed into organisations such as TATA and Nokia?
With the weak Euro Pound we are in trouble again leading India software exporter TATA Consultancy Services are in the middle of it effecting the software outsourcing market – yes huge $60 Billion outsourcing sector.
AND on the other side Nokia suffering from a lack of sales of its N900 Smartphones!
But is their an answer to stop this keep happening it has been a few weeks now since the UK Elections and we can’t blame it on that, why do we still have so much instability or is this just a backlash.
Tata Consultancy Services CEO, Chandrasekaran said “Both the euro and sterling are significantly weakening and the rupee is appreciating and that will definitely have an impact on our revenue line,”.
This is more worrying for smaller organisation who are not so strong in times like with their overall creativity and innovation suffering.

Simple Zuckerberg Facebook meets Simple Software Development
Thursday May 27th 2010, 10:10 am
Develop your systems giving flexibility to the user and reducing complexity to the development is the message.
When setting the privacy settings you got to have it straightforward really otherwise most may set a tick box and end up with the world seeing you. Facebook is going from over 160 unlike options to what now is a ‘single-click’. This is another example of applying a Lean Management system with a Lean Software Development solution.
Facebook CEO and Founder Mark Zuckerberg used the words “gotten complex” when referring to privacy settings of Facebook.
Social media sites are becoming more and more intuitive giving a well deserved flow to the user, it is quite simple really as you need a good flow when using a system you should use a good flow when developing the system a bit of Lean Consulting would help any organisation!
