bullet TATA and Nokia weakens resulting in Software Development Weakening
Friday May 28th 2010, 3:07 pm

Is this another sign of weak Lean Management and Lean Consulting fed into organisations such as TATA and Nokia?

With the weak Euro Pound we are in trouble again leading India software exporter TATA Consultancy Services are in the middle of it effecting the software outsourcing market – yes huge $60 Billion outsourcing sector.

AND on the other side Nokia suffering from a lack of sales of its N900 Smartphones!

But is their an answer to stop this keep happening it has been a few weeks now since the UK Elections and we can’t blame it on that, why do we still have so much instability or is this just a backlash.

Tata Consultancy Services CEO, Chandrasekaran said “Both the euro and sterling are significantly weakening and the rupee is appreciating and that will definitely have an impact on our revenue line,”.

This is more worrying for smaller organisation who are not so strong in times like with their overall creativity and innovation suffering.

bullet Apple vs Nokia – The limits of Software Development?
Monday May 10th 2010, 1:45 pm

What are our software development limitations especially after what we have seen with Apple and Nokia recently.

Apple is being sued by Nokia over alleged infringements of five patents. The infringements relate to the transmission of data, integration of location data, antenna technology in use by the iPad 3G and iPhone.

Nokia said “These patented innovations are important to Nokia’s success as they allow improved product performance and design,”

This is another example of how well software development has advanced over the years and why the boundaries need to be carefully explored. Unfortunately situations of this nature will slow down innovation and creativity of software development which would generally mean the whole industry suffers.
