It is hard to say but the answer in most cases is software outsourcing keeping your core software capabilities in-house. It is important not to loose this focus as businesses are usually held together by there core capabilities and can sustain from this, in most cases their capabilities becoming a niche.

Get your business model write and you are not far from a success story. So how do you get your business model write ensuring the correct software capabilities are kept or outsourced, well most say talk to the experts but are experts somebody who failed in their hands-on career and then have become “the experts” because they have worked directly in industry. It is a bit like a divorcee becoming a marriage councillor. If you are such an expert why aren’t you developing yourself further increasing innovation and creativity but instead why are you the expert telling how to fix their business.

Typically an expert enters a business/organisation investigating into the business and finds a problem, ok this problem they have found will improve the business but in most cases the business would be back into the same position it was in months to come. So how do you find the right expert? In many cases I find it is from word of mouth but if you can’t find one through this source how do you go about it. Most experts give a free consultation and from that you decide if you want to go ahead but it is almost impossible to establish if they are talking nonsense or not.

It is very important to keep your core capabilities in-house as that is the basis of your organisation and without this you would not have anything. Ensure only certain software is outsourced. Capabilities allow organisations to thrive and prosper allowing a freedom of choice. How can a expert make this split correctly?

One solution would be to approach a consultancy company where a unique collaboration model with the client is built over time. The client is given the option to see change until a stage payment is made with a focus on keeping their core capabilities in-house.
